The applications
Bending takes place at cold and it is part of the field of plastic deformation: bending machines, equipped with precision timer, carry out the processing minimizing the spring back of the material. It is one of the most common industrial interventions, useful to obtain semi-finished products by bending and changing the shape of a metal.
The bending process is carried out by stressing the metal with a bending that has a load higher than the elastic limit of the material, so that the deformation is permanent and it can be given new shape, bending it. The processing is based on the existence of neutral fiber in the center of the sheet, able to deform without stretching and without contracting
Mechanics and metallurgy but not only: bending is used in many production systems as a basic process, to obtain a pre-processed material useful then to create specific pieces.
